Rockwood students celebrate the day of love and friendship at the annual Valentine's dance. Students were eager to know who won the coronation for sixth grade King and Queen. Our candidates for king were Ethan, Ralph and Kevin. Our queen candidates were Mia, Athenna, and Mariana. Overall, the event was cheerful and funky!

In groups, students worked together to create a poster presentation on an assigned topics. This project allowed students to practice presenting in front of others. This project was used for the Science Video where students had to create a script and create an iMovie. Sixth graders developed 21st century skills such as communication, collaboration and creativity to complete this project.
During RTI, students worked on genius hour projects. In these projects, student chose a topic that they were interested in. During a four week period students conducted a project cycle. First students had to generate an inquiry question. To generate a question, students discussed about different ideas across several disciplines. Students get together to share ideas and questions. Once teacher approves genius hour project, students begin their research. Students collect information using a google document. After a week of research students bring materials to create a product. During week 3 and four, students work on presentations and present in other classrooms. If you are interested in seeing our genius hour projects click on the tab called Projects. We had a small party at the end of the day. Each student designed a box over the weekend. Creativity was evident in student box design. Students shared Valentine's Day cards with each other. Overall, it was a lovely day.
