Sixth grade participated in the costume parade at Rockwood Elementary this morning. Many students used their creativity to dress up and show their spirit on the last day of Red Ribbon Week. Also, ASB announced campaign winners. President - Chantelle is representing the sixth grade students. 

Red Ribbon Week is in full swing at Rockwood Elementary. All students participated in a grade level activity decorating the school. Sixth grade was in charge of designing positive chalk art using this year's theme. Many students wore red to wear their support on kick-off day. Below are some of the sixth grade students who decorated the school.

Our newsletters are shaping up. Students have been using ipads to create newsletter of a science career of their choice. Many students added pictures and research to create unique newsletters. Before students submit project, they work together to give each other feedback to make any last minute revisions. 

Our sixth grade students have been learning about cave paintings. Each student received a rainbow sheet and scissors. The first part of the lesson included a small lecture, video response and written reflection of an article on cave paintings. In addition, students completed the lesson by creating their own mysterious cave paintings using symbols from different ancient civilizations pictographs.

Today in kinder buddies we worked together with ten blocks. Sixth grade students helped kinder buddies create ten blocks to practice counting in a sequence. Additionally, Rockwood staff and students dressed up to celebrate Mexican Independence day. Overall, today was a great day. 

The day is finally here! Today, all students at Rockwood Elementary received an iPad through the ConnectEd Initiative. The day began with the Calexico Unified High School drum line presentation. The entire school gathered to watch the performance in the south field. Afterwards, assistant superintendents, Elisa Ramirez and Carlos Gonzalez kicked off a live broadcast of the sixth grade assembly. Students were dismissed to classes, where they received instruction focused on various applications.
